I might not know every language in the world, but my helpers and I know many, including Tagalog. (Let’s test the Tagalog, the wall might understand. Did I pass your test?)
How do you feel about Notre Dame?
Sad for the one in Paris. Collegial toward the one in Indiana–have some good wall friends there.
Can non BC people use the library? If so how/why when where etc.
Yes! We welcome visitors from everywhere. You can browse and read our books here, use our guest computers to access most of our electronic journals and databases, get research help at the Reference Desk, ask The Answer Wall (me) anything, and if you want you can pay to get a card to check out books. More info on guest access: bit.ly/BCLibGuest.
How can I become President of the United States without becoming a messed up person?
Jimmy Carter’s post-presidential life of authorship, shunning cash cow payouts, and community service is widely viewed as a life well lived, and not “messed up.” Take a look at this entry, Life After the Presidency, Jimmy Carter (bit.ly/millercenter-carter), from the Miller Center at the University of Virginia for an overview. For more on the post-presidential lives of other U.S. Presidents visit, U.S. Presidents, Miller Center (millercenter.org/president).
How can I get a 180 on the LSAT?
Study study study. And honestly a bit of luck. Many of the Wall’s law school friends say that the PowerScore series of LSAT prep books are the best. Unfortunately we don’t have them here and can’t seem to get them via ILL (we tried). I also want to note that standardized test scores tend to be used more as filters in adminssions rather than reasons to accept an applicant. Which is to say that anything over 170 will probably get your application looked at by all of the top law schools. You have to sell yourself as an applicant from there (GPA, extracurriculars, other “soft factors”). Good luck!
Can I get boyfriend?
It looks like you have your answer! Sort of. Now the trick is to find out who that is & whether it’s someone you’d like to be your boyfriend. I wish you the best of luck in this endeavor. If this particular option doesn’t work, I’m sure there will be others. The key is to be your genuine self.
Who’s the best looking person in BC?
Lookin’ at ’em right now!
Is withdrawing from a class wrong?
It’s not wrong, but it’s definitely something you’ll want to talk to your academic advisor about. If you withdraw now the course will be marked with a W on your transcript. And you should also check that your financial aid isn’t affected by the number of credits you’re registered for. http://bit.ly/bc-withdraw
Best way to study for finance?
Everyone’s best way to study is a little different, so continuing to experiment is a good idea. Some people remember better when they write things down, some when they speak them aloud. Some people need to study different subjects different: one of my helpers who is good with history and English discovered that if he spent four times as much study time on his math courses that his grades went up dramatically. BC also has hundreds of books on study skills–take a look at a few and try a few of their suggestions out. bit.ly/bc-study
Can you forget that you have Alzheimer’s?
The short (sad) answer is yes. If you are interested in learning more about this disease, we have many books about it on level 3 in the RC523 call numbers.
Chezbörgar or reg borgar?
Chez. So gooey. So creamy. Yum.
spükeê
Can you send mail out in the mailroom
Do you mean the mailroom on the 2nd floor of O’Neill? Unfortunately, that’s limited only to official deliveries to and from the Library. There is a mailroom in McElroy that anyone is allowed to send mail and packages out of (http://bit.ly/BCMailRoom).
Bu hao (not good)
🙁 Sorry you’re feeling that way! I believe in you!
Is water wet?
I get this question a lot; it must matter a great deal to you flesh and blood sorts! As I’ve said before, wetness is a perception, not an objective fact, and perceptual clues for wetness are actually not so straightforward, as you can see in this physiology article: bit.ly/wetness-perception.
My roommate is easy to be annoyed…
🙁 I’m really sorry to hear that. People can be very mean. If the situation is really as bad as it seems, I might recommend avoiding this person or looking into a room transfer. Perhaps reach out to your RA or Residential Life directly (bit.ly/res-life). Unfortunately, there are many not-nice people in the world.
I already had to take 4 years of Theology…
Your academic dean would be the person to contact regarding documenting your Kunama ability, and should also be able to rule on the theology requirement.
How 2 get over AN EX I see on campus everywhere.
Time will take care of the healing, but that doesn’t help you right now. In the immediate term, if you see your ex all over the place, perhaps try to vary your routes and normal hangouts to avoid them. Pick up new hobbies or clubs to keep your mind occupied. You’ll meet new people through these and find yourself thinking about your ex less and less. If they’re in your classes, all I can recommend is changing up your seat to sit far away from them. I believe in you!
Do you think I will get into med school?
There is some discussion about the odds of acceptance for BC students by GPA here: bit.ly/BCPreMed. But I would also have a chat with the Pre-Health Program about how you can improve your chance of acceptance (premed@bc.edu or 2-4663).
Is a new part of the library being built on the 5th floor (near the lockers)?
If you are referring to the construction near the bathrooms and behind the staircase, the Library is turning an old computer server room into usable library space. When it opens next week, it will have rented furniture and a bare-bones look until they decide how it will ultimately be used.
