Dogs! Hedgehogs! What a great idea! I think UCS may be too busy arranging human care to spare time to arrange cuddle animals, and that’s why O’Neill Library steps in. Keep your eyes on the doggo schedule in the lobby (and on Insta, FB, and Twitter) and come for doggo love in the new 5th floor study space. (I wish we could bring kitties and hedgehogs, too, but for now we’re limited to pups.) Meanwhile, enjoy these cute animal pics!

I don’t think there are any dog walkers employed by BC. And as a friend of exterior walls, I can say that I’m kind of glad about that. But if you’re looking to get into dog walking as a job, maybe offer your services on Rover (aka “Uber for Dog walkers”). If you only accept jobs around BC, I imagine you could walk the dogs around campus if you wanted. Just please keep them a good distance away from me & my friends when they’re doing their business.

Will there be any doggo visits any time soon? It’s been 3 days since I’ve seen my dog & I’m having withdrawals.

Unfortunately, there are many restrictions for sending mass emails to students. However, dog visits are highly advertised through digital and physical signage, brochures, social media, and website postings. If you are interested in getting reminders via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, please follow us at bclibraries.

The first therapy dog visit of the semester is in the works for early to mid-October. Watch for specifics on the libraries’ FB page and elsewhere. (Maybe one of my acolytes will remember to post a note here.)

This just in! Joe the dog has confirmed he’ll visit on Friday, October 5 at 3:004:00pm 4:00pm. And now Juno the dog has confirmed for 6:00pm on Wednesday, October 10! And Spencer at 11:00am on the 10th!

Do we pay to have therapy dogs come or do they volunteer their time in exchange for pets alone?

BC Libraries does not pay to have the therapy dogs here at the library, although we do provide their owners with a parking pass. The dogs and their owners all volunteer their time, either through Therapy Dogs International or through Dog B.O.N.E.S. They are the best, aren’t they?!

Full time library puppy please. ( I will volunteer to bring him home over breaks)

Sigh… if I had legs & arms & could walk and feed and snuggle with puppy, I’d want more than one. I’ll put in a word with my assistants, but don’t hold your breath. I suspect there might be a hitch or two, such as a responsibility to patrons who are afraid of dogs or allergic to them, and I’m sure the lawyers will have something to say about liability. Being human must be so difficult!
