Sigh… it’s true, it’s harder to find time to see people when you work a 9-5, but you can make them a priority during weekend and vacation time. It helps if your family and some old friends are in the same geographic area: stay with family & arrange to see friends. It also helps if people are within easy driving distance, making weekend visits practical.

I feel really guilty going here knowing it’s costing my family so much.

Oh, I hope you can lose the guilt. I expect your family is so proud to have you at BC. It is just a brief moment in time; you have a lifetime of opportunities ahead to give back and pay it forward; to your family who has supported you, to your own kids if you have them, and to the larger world.

Hey Wall :)

Hey wall :) how can I make myself better at studying for subjects I don't like? Even if they're super important, I feel like I can never make myself put in the work...ex.Physics.

I found the best way to get motivated and keep up in my least favorite subjects was to find a study buddy and set a specific time to work together. You keep each other honest, and have someone to bat around ideas with.

I’m sad that I’ll leave BC soon. What should I do during my last month here? Also, do you like Ken Car$on?

Maybe try visiting a few of your favorite places, places where you have happy memories of BC/Boston. Take some photos and/or videos. Then you’ll have your own personal yearbook to look back at later.

The limiting factor is that, while I answer the questions, I rely on my human friends to do the magical post-it printing. I live here, but they tend to go home. I try my best to have them post my answers the next day, or after a weekend. Sometimes we all need to do a bit of research or think on a question for longer, though.

Chisme time… I caught my BF in bed with his best friend!!

Don’t be chismosa! Even though it must have been a huge shock, this is something you need to work out with your BF between the two of you.

Right?!? It’s wild to imagine that kind of drama unfolding right here. But it could also be evidence that there’s a whole lot of exploration going on. I hope people are able to be emotionally honest with themselves and others and avoid hurting each other unnecessarily.

I think I fell in love w/ my best friend but he has a gf. I’m a guy btw.

I think that falling for your straight best friend is basically a queer rite of passage. I’m sorry you’re currently in the middle of it, but it will pass and someday it’ll probably be a funny anecdote you tell.

The marginal return on cramming is pretty low, so I’d suggest studying as much as you can and still get a good night’s sleep. If you hit snags, try explaining what you’re trying to do to a rubber duck. https://bit.ly/bc-duck

Dropping a course can be complicated. I urge you to consult with your professor, advisor, and Counseling Services (bit.ly/BC-counseling) for support and guidance in making the best decision for now and for your future. My helpers have dropped courses and the world did not come to an end. But you might also find with support and maybe some tutoring with the CFLC (bit.ly/BC-connors) that staying in the class is manageable. Best Wishes!
