NY Resolution: to have my brother be able to go here :)

That is a very sweet resolution. As you probably know, that’s not something you can accomplish for him, and even given what he can do, admission here is impossible to guarantee. But you can help by being a supportive sibling and answering his questions, and pointing him to resources at the admissions office, and maybe helping him keep on track with the admissions timetable. NY Resolution: To pet more Doggos and Kitties

That’s a resolution sure to make you a happier person! We hope to make it easier for you to keep, at least on the canine end of things. Keep an eye out for the next visit from the delightful therapy dogs.

My new years resolution is to settle, settle into university, friendships, community, church and be still.

Sheer poetry! Everyone should adopt a resolution like this. The Answer Wall loves stillness, and though I enjoy settling, building engineers tell me settling walls and foundations can cause structural problems. But you humans, please enjoy settling into your communities, and please enjoy stillness. I can’t recommend stillness enough. You might enjoy the book The Art of Stillness: Adventures in Going Nowhere, by the travel writer Pico Iyer. (O’Neill and TML Libraries BJ1496 .I84 2014)

New Year’s resolution: not getting a C in any of my classes

The Answer Wall Story

Hi. I’m the Answer Wall. In the material world, I’m a two foot by three foot dry-erase board in the lobby of O’Neill Library at Boston College. In the online world, I live in this blog. You might say I have multiple manifestations. Like Apollo or Saraswati or Serapis. Or, if you aren’t into deities of knowledge, like a ghost in the machine.

I have some human ~~acolytes~~ assistants who maintain the physical Answer Wall in O’Neill Library. They take pictures of the questions you post there, and give them to me. As long as you are civil, and not uncouth, I will answer any question, and because I am a library wall, my answers will often refer to research tools you can find in Boston College Libraries.

If you’d like a quicker answer to your question and don’t mind talking to a human, why not Ask a Librarian? Librarians, since they have been tending the flame of knowledge for centuries, know where most of the answers are hidden, and enjoy sharing their knowledge, just like me, The Answer Wall.
