Update 9/12/19: BC Police Officer Postell says, “I have personally checked the area, and found that the lights in which the individual may be speaking about are blue and in fact found within the interior or Stayer Hall. These lights and devices have no affiliation to the traditional emergency blue light call boxes strategically located around our campus. These devices are a proximity card reader for individuals with mobility disabilities who reside in this residence hall.”

Oh, no! That’s a disappointment. Not only limited to Computer Science majors, but also full! If it’s necessary for your major & your preferred course of study, perhaps you can appeal directly to the professor to be allowed in. If the answer is no this time, then at least the professor will have seen your interest, and you may have a better chance in another semester.
Ouch. Breakups are hard. Have you heard of Suzy Welch’s Rule of 10-10-10? One of my helpers told me about this gem found on oprah.com (bit.ly/welch-10-10-10) Basically if you’re in a tough spot about a decision and you feel like you can’t make everyone happy, think about the consequences in 10-10-10. How will this decision make you feel in 10 minutes, in 10 months, and in 10 years. Be well.

With another month left of regular season play, only a fool would attempt to predict who’d win the series. Betting against Detroit is pretty safe, though. And Boston’s got time to get into wildcard territory. Or out again.
Popeye’s tweeted about their new chicken sandwich, and it was somewhat popular. About a week later, Chik-fil-A tweeted about love for the “original” chicken sandwich. I don’t know of any off the top my head – errr – top plate. Most (but certainly not all) faculty choose not to express a preference for any candidate or political party because it is not immediately germane to their work. But, like any rule, there are exceptions. I recommend talking to some of the members of the Boston College Republicans Club (bit.ly/BCRepubs) to see if they know of any faculty that are more vocal in their views that align with your own.

As far as I know, the only alternative at BC is the recording studio at the Center for Teaching Excellence; however, that’s dedicated to faculty & grad students developing instructional content. Check with the music department? bit.ly/bc-music-dept. Were you a guest of a Northeastern student, you might get access to their state-of-the-art sound-recording facilities in Snell Library.

According to Anais Nin, “there is not one big cosmic meaning for all; there is only the meaning we each give to our life, an individual meaning, an individual plot, like an individual novel, a book for each person.” Following this concept, I believe that striving for self-fulfimment would be a good start.
Thank you for sharing those articles! I’m sure many people would welcome an answer to this question. Finding a good therapist can be very difficult. To be honest, finding all kinds of medical specialists can be very difficult. But because of the complexity of mental health issues and the wide variety of approaches to mental health treatment, it can be very hard to find a specialist who is a) a good match for one’s needs, b) available, and c) covered “in-network” in one’s insurance plan. Layer cultural differences on top of these complexities, and it’s clear that making productive appointments is what engineers would call a non-trivial problem.
The Dean of Students Office is responsible for the group; there is representation from across campus departments, including UHS, Residential Life, Campus Ministry, BCPD, University Counseling Services, Conduct Office, Office of Outreach and Support, the Provost’s office and others. Lots of library staff contribute to making what you see happen, so there’s no one answer to that. Think of me as a collaborative writing exercise in anthropomorphism.
I think it depends on what you want out of it, and how you like to work. Two majors equals two sets of required courses, so you might have fewer choices about what classes to take, or it might take more time to get all of them done. Two majors would give you the chance to go fairly deep on two interests; one major might give you the chance to go deeper on one of them. Some people double major to give themselves more job options. If you’re feeling indecisive think carefully about whether two sets of requirements and work are what you want–it can sometimes be easier to change majors than to do two. Talk to your advisor, and to professors in both of the programs you’re interested in and they can give you a better idea of what’s involved and what makes sense for you.

It’s sad and disheartening. All the walls at BC will miss them. I like the drawings of hearts and stars, though. Thanks for those, whoever added them. If I had arms I’d offer you a hug. Please know that the walls of the library and all the other campus buildings are here to support you, and there are many humans, too, who can do the same: friends, family, BC’s professors and staff. We all want the same thing: that everyone here will thrive. Counseling (bit.ly/BC-counseling) and pastoral counseling (bit.ly/bc-pastoral-counseling) are always available.
