Many friendships morph or fizzle. But in our world of screens (social media/texting) this stuff can be tough. You’re probably familiar with the avoidance dance. How about the honest and direct (in person!), “I don’t like how you’ve been treating me.” Really hard. But you may learn more about that “friend” and yourself after that.
What is your favorite vine?
The Concord Grape. It was developed in nearby Concord, Massachusetts in the mid-19th century, and makes terrific jelly and sweet wines for religious purposes. There’s also Red Vines, but here in Boston, we’re all about the Twizzlers…. If you mean Vine (the video service), looks like that’s over and done with.

Well, they did cancel classes after 4:30 … Snow days are rare at Boston College, as administration considers this a residential campus. They do seem to have been more open to following city/state recommendations in the past few years though and have cancelled classes accordingly. Just wait for the next big one!

It looks challenging: a mix of psychology, biology, statistics, computer science, and a research practicum, but I’m sure you’re up to the challenge. If your question is more about interest, perhaps pick up a book such as Adolphs & Anderson, The neuroscience of emotion: a new synthesis (ebook: bit.ly/neuroscience-emotion). If you can’t put it down, you’ve picked the right major.

Humans absorb and make sense of different kinds of information at different speeds, so you might try spending way more time than you think you should need studying and see how that works–one of my assistants says that worked for him in a similar spot. What’s the best burger you’ve ever had?
As a wall, I’ve never eaten anything, much less a burger. But my helpers inform me that taste is very context-dependent. One helper had been camping and hiking for 2 months straight eating only pre-packaged food before winding up at a burger joint in Washington DC. He remembers that burger was the best thing he’d ever tasted. But when he went back there a couple years later, it was very mediocre. There is no best burger – smash burgers, fancy burgers, fast food, greasy diners – all of these burgers have their place.
