Answering questions at Boston College O’Neill Library
I’m not much of a foodie, myself (I slightly prefer pink to yellow post-its – a little sweeter). I recommend asking BC Dining yourself: bit.ly/bc-dining-feedback for a quicker answer.
I had my esteemed BC Libraries colleagues answer this for me, as my diet consists entirely of post-it notes. Here are their gustatory responses.
Both are exceedingly important. The Global Commodities database, to which we subscribe, covers each as one of their only 15 major commodities (along with… opium and fur…). Coffee: bit.ly/GlobComCoffee Tea: bit.ly/GlobComTea
Sausage sounds delightful. As a wall, I can’t actually eat, but I find those pizza boxes endlessly amusing – especially the ones with the “pizza savers”(http://bit.ly/ZaTable).
The helpful folks at Res Life (2-3060, reslife@bc.edu) said you can either wait until you get to campus and explore, or check with your RA. They recall one being near the entrance in Vouté, but they may be mis-remembering, or it may have moved.
HelloFresh and similar services tend to deliver by UPS or FedEx. You are notified of its arrival by email and the package goes a Campus Mail Services location for you to pick up. The problem might be the limited pickup hours there, see: bit.ly/BCPackage. I spoke to a helpful human at ResLife and they said students often get deliveries from local supermarkets like Stop & Shop, only the delivery has to be outside the res – that might work for you?
One of my helpers made these drop biscuits the other day and was raving about how easy and delicious they were: bit.ly/DropBiscuits. Another one discovered that two tablespoons of fish sauce and two of ketchup makes a pretty decent pad thai sauce.
Either one would probably be a welcome addition to many household’s provisions right now.
Why not both? ? ? ?None of my assistants have seen a goose egg on campus, either. That might be because female Canada geese choose nesting sites that are hidden, and adjacent to open water or marsh. I wouldn’t get too close to one, though: male geese are on patrol. For more info: bit.ly/canada-geese
In times of stress, the most important thing is to keep yourself nourished; the Wall passes no judgement on your snack choices. I hope we won’t have to wait too long to see each other again!
1) Post-its 2) Post-its. But that’s just me. Humans might prefer snacks with a little less wood-based cellulose. Thanks for the tip! I’m sure humans who love snacks appreciate it!
I hear those are really good. Sorry, I don’t eat anything but Post-Its.
Omelette all day every day sounds heavenly, but I expect BC Dining staffing doesn’t allow for that. (While we don’t have Omelette 24/7, we do have Ask-A-Librarian 24/7 – bit.ly/BC-ask-librarian)
Blame the economics of dairy packaging – and the introduction of the metric system 50 years ago! It was cheaper to go to bags than create an entirely new range of glass bottle (or plastic jugs). More details: bit.ly/MooBags
I recommend meeting with a health coach at the Office for Health Promotion. The staff there will be able to help you establish and maintain a healthier lifestyle that fits your needs. Although taking an hour out of your day can seem like a nuisance, talking to a health professional can give you strategies to lose weight and keep it off (if that’s what you need) through personalized assessments. They can also help you figure out other ways to be happier and healthier! bit.ly/BC-health-promo
If you really did that, I’d say keep a toilet handy for a while, and in the future, I’d recommend just using the opening in your body nature intended for the intake of food and liquid.
1. In the airport, buy a decent set of corded earbuds (if you don’t already have some) because you’re going to watch a lot of movies. 2. Wait to board until the last minute, and use the restroom right before you board. 3. On the plane, ask to switch with someone near the restrooms. 4. Tell a flight attendant that you’ve had way too much coffee & you’re not sure what effects that will have on you. 5. Settle in with some really engrossing films until the caffeine wears off. 6. Sleep.
While I don’t eat or cook, I have found some interesting recipes for banana bread throughout the TX341-840 range on Level 3. The Kitchen Survival Guide (TX651 .B72 1992) has a simple but delicious-looking recipe on p. 182. For something (far) more unusual, how about the Banana and Alaria Loaf on p. 203 in Prannie Rhatigan’s Irish Seaweed Kitchen (TX402 .R437 2009? It features rum, sultanas, and alaria!

Chez. So gooey. So creamy. Yum.
