So sorry to hear that your friend is suffering. I can’t tell you why your friend developed this phobia, but as with other phobias, treatment varies for each person. Gradually increasing exposure in a controlled manner is often the recommended treatment. I imagine Fr. Leahy does not have time to help with that process, so perhaps cognitive behavioral therapy would be the better approach. Your friend could explore their fear to determine what aspects of the phobia produce negative responses, and then develop tools to cope in a healthier manner.

The formula for making krabby patties remains a secret. Considering the fact that krabby patties are mainly meant to be consumed by sea creatures adds to the mystery. If you’re not into dating apps you can try the old-fashioned approach. Meet new people, ideally by doing things you enjoy already. Live your life, worry about other things. Love has a habit of showing up when you’re busy with something else.

Breakups hurt. Give it time, but don’t be afraid to get help (bit.ly/BC-counseling has a relationship support group) if it is interfering with your life and studies too long. He just might grow up and come back into your life, but more likely you will move on and find someone with a more mature outloook in time.

The class of 2024 is a pretty diverse bunch, and we’re less selective than other schools I won’t name. Do your best on the application and then worry about other stuff for a while.
