So glad to be here for you to visit! (And my assistants and I had no trouble reading your handwriting, BTW.)
Answering questions at Boston College O’Neill Library
As you say, “We walk in a hurry every day, however we shouldn’t forget to stop and cry for the bodies that fell at our feet.” It’s very important to mourn, not just individually, but communally, to take a moment to mark each person’s passing. Good luck to the people of Shanghai, and good luck to every locale struggling both with a pandemic and with fumbled responses to it. You’ve said to remember the anger more deeply than the love. I disagree. Love is everything. May the memories of those everyone lost be a blessing.
It is a difficult decision. But for one thing, it is not a permanent decision. Career switching happens through life for all kinds of reasons. Why not schedule a meeting with the great people at the Career Center (bit.ly/BC-career) to talk over your options?
I think it depends – if you are interested in chatting more with this person, you can reply something simple like “Thanks!” and if you are not interested in pursuing any sort of connection it is okay to ignore the text.
Everyone is exhausted at this point in what has felt like an endless year. It is OK to drop a few things if it gives you the space to take care of yourself. If you’re feeling totally overwhelmed, BC’s Counseling Services can be very helpful: bit.ly/BC-counseling
The months with the highest birth rates in the USA are July, August, September and October. So, if you count back 9 months it seems the colder weather in late fall and early winter is more inspiring than the spring. That said, birth rates are not that different from month to month, so maybe love is always in the air.
I’m so glad to hear that you’ve been feeling better! I spend so much time reading all of your questions that I don’t read much else, but our awesome library staff have an entire page reviewing their favorite recent reads: https://libguides.bc.edu/staff-picks I’m sure you’ll find some great reads there 🙂
The doggos have a very complicated schedule this year (sounds like the rest of us!) We hope to have full information available next week. But I heard a rumor that next wednesday (5/27) will be “Library Late Night” from 7-10 PM with 3 doggos, and also coloring, button-making, snacks, and chair massages!
