Answering questions at Boston College O’Neill Library
It takes a lot more than we’ve had the past few weeks. BC does have the odd snow day, but a regular New England snowstorm is generally not enough to close us down. Weeks like this I’m glad I’m not an exterior wall, for sure!
Snow days are rare at Boston College, as administration considers this a residential campus. They do seem to have been more open to following city/state recommendations in the past few years though and have cancelled classes accordingly. Just wait for the next big one!

As a primarily residential campus, BC never closes completely. So, those who make the snow day call try to keep all services available as much as possible. Unfortunately for many, that also means classes are also rarely cancelled. But when there are snow days, check out the library hours page- O’Neill is almost always open.
I am sure there will be another snow day, but you will likely need to wait until next winter (or the winter after that). On average, April in Boston receives no more than 1″ of snow.

The Wall believes the weather has to be hazardous to humans, rather than just annoying, for BC to close. You can also try one of the snow day superstitions, such as sleeping with your pajamas on backwards, a spoon under the pillow, or flushing an ice cube down the toilet. (Though I wouldn’t count on it!) Ask again if you’d like a more detailed answer.
