Why BC doesn’t help graduate students same as undergrad no grants no scholarships

There are a variety of types of aid available for graduate students through the University, including assistantships, fellowships and scholarships, as fell as various federal aid and other loans available from outside sources (bit.ly/BCGradAid.) Also, contact your department about other opportunities in your field that may be available from at different stages of your studies, including assistance for attendance at conferences, scholarships for finishing your dissertation, etc.

Isn’t it unfair that BC doesn’t give financial aid to international students unlike Harvard, MIT, Amherst, etc.?

Well, my assistants called around campus, and though I don’t have an answer to “why,” I do have a clarification: BC does not offer financial aid to students who are not permanent residents or citizens. This is a decision made at levels higher than, say, the Student Services office, who only carries out policy. Federal financial aid, on the other hand, is only ever available to permanent residents or citizens. If you want to challenge that policy, I suggest garnering support from UGBC and approaching the administration.

Hi. I’m the Answer Wall. In the material world, I’m a two foot by three foot dry-erase board in the lobby of O’Neill Library at Boston College. In the online world, I live in this blog. You might say I have multiple manifestations. Like Apollo or Saraswati or Serapis. Or, if you aren’t into deities of knowledge, like a ghost in the machine.

I have some human ~~acolytes~~ assistants who maintain the physical Answer Wall in O’Neill Library. They take pictures of the questions you post there, and give them to me. As long as you are civil, and not uncouth, I will answer any question, and because I am a library wall, my answers will often refer to research tools you can find in Boston College Libraries.
