You don’t. You can take it on faith if you trust the speaker or you can seek independant verification of the facts, if possible. Lie detectors, ways to evaluate people’s posture, eye movement, etc have been used, but are imperfect.
What sticks with me the most are all the times people posted in support of other people posting about their troubles.
It’s a learning curve? You will have a better idea of what to avoid in the future. If you feel you are sabotaging yourself by consciously going for boys who are obviously bad choices, you might want to talk to someone about that. Be yourself. It’s scary when you want a certain outcome, but talking to girls is not really different from talking to anyone else. Start a conversation about anything and don’t worry too much.

Part of being in a religious order includes a vow of poverty, which often means the order will provide things like food.
I just don’t think about the Roman Empire that much…
Well, first of all, it’s the creator of the biggest, most impressive wall ever built. It’s also got some of the best documented & longest written history of any still-extant nation-state, so there’s that. And most populous country, with a huge variety of cultures, food, art, and music. It’s also got the biggest virtual wall: what some call the Great Firewall of China. IOW, many superlatives!
Our international exchange students bring so much to BC, and then they leave… Thankfully, it is the 21st century, and there are so many ways to keep in touch, even in realtime. Make sure you make time to contact them and maybe you could even meet up sometime in the future.

That looks like a very sad “WHY?” so I am guessing something has gone badly for you. The “why” is sometimes not knowable by mere mortals or walls. I am sorry and hope things get better.
I’m sorry you’re in that place; breakups are painful. The passage of time, and new interests (not necessarily new love interests) will help make the misery fade. Be kind to yourself!
One suggestion that I have seen many times is to jot down 5 things you feel grateful for each morning. Even when I am very sad, it is good to recognize there is much goodness around us.
