I really like hanging out in the pre-dawn blue glow as the sun starts to come up.
Answering questions at Boston College O’Neill Library
Oh, there are so many good ones! One of my helpers suggests exploring: Global Black French Studies (HIST(251301), History of Architecture (ARTH(110701), and History of Photography (ARTH(228501). Good luck!
It looks like you’ve already received some good advice from someone else. Since I’m in a committed relationship with the Lobby Door, I will also just add that sometimes thinking about the person (or in my case, door), can help. Think about your boyfriend right now and how you feel about that, and perhaps that will help give you clarity.
You can always see some of what’s going on through the events calendar: https://bit.ly/BCEventCal. You can also check the flyers posted around campus. Also, going into the city and exploring is always a fun thing before classes make life busier.
My comfort movie is Paddington Bear 1 & 2 as a double feature. But our DVD collection on this floor of O’Neill is quite vast, the BPL has a lot of online film resources that are free with a BPL card that you are eligible to get: https://www.bpl.org/movies/.

I wish I could wrap you up in a big hug (alas no arms). Insecurity is one of the most insidious emotions, and I hope you know asking for help is a brave step. I’m proud of you! Building confidence is an ongoing journey for most of us. The counseling office here on campus is a free service and has very kind people trained to help with this kind of goal. Even I have taken advantage of teletherapy now and again. I encourage you to book an appointment!
Dive in! Check out all the club offerings (bc.edu/osi), check out all the events (bit.ly/BCEventCal), invite people along, and when a new friend says “Hey, do you want to…” say yes . And make sure that in the welter of assignments and other obligations you don’t lose sight of priorities that are important to *you*.
Two favorites: 1) when it’s quiet in the wee hours, I enjoy the bot bot shows. Where else would I ever hear Jah Wobble & the Chinese Dub Orchestra? 2) But of course I love humans and prefer human-run shows, and I love a wide variety, so I’m sorry but I’m just going to have to say “All of them!” and let you all decide your own favorites. Tune in! wzbc.org
Objectively: Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter or Good Luck, Babe! by Chappell Roan. Subjectively: still those two, but also Aftertaste by Katie Gavin or Sailor Song by Gigi Perez or Clost to You by Gracie Abrams. Also the entirety of Charli xcx’s Brat album.
