How to cope with a big disappointment or personal failure?

Oh, that’s a heavy one. Well as a wall I haven’t really had to deal with that yet, but one of my helpers said that a social worker he worked with gave him this advice on dealing with potentially troubling events: you may be having some intrusive and potentially illogical thoughts; I would recommend taking time to be frustrated with your mistake. We often live in a rather fast paced world and the fear that we might be left behind doesn’t give us enough time to think about mistakes/perceived mistakes. Take a good cry if you have to. Then work on recording, rationalizing, and replacing negative thoughts with more logical, potentially more positive thoughts. Try this video on the topic: bit.ly/automatic-thoughts. Also it might help to talk to someone about it–a family member or maybe a friend. If this is really troubling you, BC Counseling Services is a good option: http://bit.ly/BC-counseling
