Exploring BC Libraries Open Access E-Journal Portfolio

As we navigate a rapidly changing world, access to high-quality, peer-reviewed content is vital for scholars, researchers, and anyone concerned with the world and culture around them. Here at Boston College Libraries, we publish seventeen open access peer-reviewed e-journals that are completely free to read without a one-time payment or a subscription.

Our e-journals are sponsored by the Boston College Libraries to help support and promote the research done here at BC and in collaboration with Boston College scholars. Many of our e-journals are completely managed by graduate or even undergraduate students – and collecting the download statistics for each of our e-journals has revealed a tremendous international reach. Below are some data visualizations highlighting our e-journal readership over the past year.

Mystērion

A relatively new journal to our portfolio, Mystērion is the theology journal of Boston College and publishes exemplary undergraduate work in order to engage new seminarians and scholars with the current and developing trends in theology.

Beyond Borders

Boston College School of Social Work, in conjunction with International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU) social sciences, has recently published its second issue of Beyond Borders: Advances in Global Welfare. This journal features work from social work practitioners at all stages.

Dianoia

One of our most established undergraduate journals, Dianoia is the philosophy journal of Boston College – engaging the next generation of philosophers in scholarly dialogue with one another, boasting a readership all over the world.

Our e-journals receive submissions from almost as many countries as are represented by readers. Being open access extends the reach of these journals: anyone with an internet connection can engage with this scholarly work and learn more about their field.
