Wrestling With an Octopus Item Info

Title:
Wrestling With an Octopus
Description:
Wrestling With an Octopus is a collection, curated by Andrew Lindsay and published by the Dight St Tenants Council along with the Collingwood High Rise Tenants Association and Collingwood Neighborhood house, of short stories and poems. These works were written by members of the Collingwood community, collected between April-August 1991, outlining their lives and experiences. The collection was meant to give these community members an opportunity to make their voices heard, reflect upon and document the changes and shifts over the course of time in the community. The curator, Andrew Lindsay, makes note of how these stories and poems are “truth,” personal truth to the author, but at times may be factually “incorrect,” and over time the truth may have been subverted. He writes in his Introduction, “Memory is selective, and no two accounts of one event are ever the same.”
