Project Lead: Jess Pauszek, Assistant Professor, Boston College - Growing up in a predominantly Polish, working-class, community in Dunkirk, New York shaped Pauszek’s interest in writing about labor and class. Since 2012, she has been working with FWWCP/FED members to develop the print and digital collections of the Federation of Worker Writers and Community Publishers. The current print collection is housed at the Trades Union Congress Library in London, England, with over 88 boxes of material including publications, minutes, newsletters, annual reports and more from 1976-present. Pauszek has led the work to sort, box, index, create metadata, and develop finding aids or reading guides for these publications. Her book, Worker Writers: Community Archiving in Action is about the ongoing process of the FWWCP Archival Project.
Project Founding Member: Steve Parks, Associate Professor of English, University of Virginia - Parks has published widely in scholarly journals and edited collections and is the author or co-author of five books, including On the Wrong Side of Privilege: Advocacy, Community, and Politics; Gravyland: Writing Beyond the Curriculum in the City of Brotherly Love; and Class Politics: The Movement for “The Students’ Right to Their Own Language.” He has served as editor or co-editor of four book series, including NCTE/CCCC’s Studies in Writing and Rhetoric. He is founder of the Democratic Futures Project, an alliance of advocates, academics, and policy makers focused on providing research and training to democratic advocates confronting the international rise of authoritarian governments.
Project Founding Member: Nick Pollard, Senior Lecturer, Sheffield-Hallam University - Pollard is responsible for the largest donation of FWWCP materials which began the FWWCP Collection at the Trades Union Congress Library.
Jeff Howarth, Special Collections Librarian, TUC Library Collections at London Metropolitan University - Howarth was integral in the FWWCP Collection’s acceptance to the TUC Library and showcased the collection for numerous audiences at London Metropolitan University and beyond.
Vincent Portillo - Assistant Teaching Professor of English, Boston College. Portillo co-taught the 2018 study abroad class with Pauszek and together with students they produced the first round of the FWWCP Reading Guides.
