Open City: A Journal of Community Arts & Culture Item Info
- Title:
- Open City: A Journal of Community Arts & Culture
- Description:
- The inaugural issue of Open City is a collection of works from within the greater Philadelphia community. With the aim of creating an outlet for everyday writers to come together, collaborate, and find common ground. The journal seeks to publish writings that the authors at first glance see as uninteresting or unviable to others, creating a space for those artistic expressions to live and inspire others. The journal also seeks to be interactive, with prompts for each issue of the journal that are meant to spark conversation between the writer and the reader and to hopefully publish the result of that transaction. The themes of the works in this journal range from everyday experiences using public transportation to a drawing from a young second grader detailing his allergy to poetry. Biographies about the contributors are available at the back of the journal.
