It is also an intimate portrait of Charmaine’s London street, one mainly populated by Jamaican emigrants. The title of the story comes from the Melting Pot, the fictionalized club that serves as a meeting point for young people in Charmaine and Junior’s neighborhood. The author, Chelsea Herbert, wrote the story while she was attending University.
