Title:
Taken For a Ride
Description:
Taken For a Ride documents the experiences of one female London Transport bus driver at work. Contributor Ruth Parsons discusses her training, how she learned to deal with unruly passengers, and the toll that her profession took on her health. Parsons also shares the small ways she defended herself from riders and tried to establish an equitable transportation system, despite occupying a frequently overlooked post. Additionally, she discusses her work with the transport union around gender equality and safety within the position. The narrative is supplemented by black and white illustrations, drawn by Christopher Madden.
