Author Information and Notes:
Oswald was born in Rainhill on Houghton Street and lived there for part of his childhood where his father also had a tailor’s shop. His parents came from Yorkshire - his dad from Malton and his mom from Wetherby, where she was also born at the Swan & Talbot. His father was a soldier in WWI and died in 1935 due to wounds from the war. Similarly, Oswald served in the Royal Air Force and Army. He had four children with his wife Dorothy - two sons named John and Mike and two daughters named Susan and Sandra. (I found a birth index matching Oswald’s name, location, and probably age. I was more enticed by this birth index as the county is labeled Prescot, and the middle initial is D: Birth Index. Another possible option is this parish register which has Oswald marrying a woman named Doris in Rainhill. Since Oswald was born in Rainhill and Dorothy could be a nickname for Doris, I thought it could be a possibility.)
