The mechanics of how to do it change from discipline to discipline, and sometimes from journal to journal. Trying to keep all the details clear and build citations and bibliographies can be time-consuming and aggravating. Import from and export to a wide variety of other software<\/li><li>It works. It\u2019s open-source, and has legions of dedicated coders constantly adjusting it to work with evolving products, citation styles, and web standards<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Bonus features:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Handles websites and YouTube\nvideos as well as scholarly materials<\/li><li>Recognizes lots of sources for\nbooks, not just library catalogs and Amazon<\/li><li>Automatically saves screenshots of\nwebsites and downloads PDFs when they\u2019re available<\/li><li>Handles almost any kind of file\n(Word document, image, etc.) you\u2019d want to attach to a citation<\/li><li>Free<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re fans of <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.bc.edu\/zotero\">Zotero<\/a>, obviously, but there are other citation management tools.
