It is with great pleasure that the Boston College Libraries announce the winners of the Seventh Annual Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Mapping Contest at Boston College.
The first place award of a $100 Amazon Gift Card went to:
Lauren Hoehn Velasco, Doctoral Student, Department of Economics, graduate prize: "Death in the Country: The Role of Rural Health Initiatives in the Mortality Transition of the United States".
Delia Ridge Creamer, A&S 2016 in Environmental Geoscience , undergraduate prize: "Analysis of Donald Trump's Victory in Massachusetts ".
The second place award of a $50 Amazon Gift Card, went to:
Kaipeng Wang, School of Social Work, graduate prize: " Neighborhood Mobility and Fruit/Vegetable Consumption in New York City".
Awards were based on map quality, use of GIS as a research tool and originality. Special consideration was given to topics depicting social implications of the research such as environmental issues.
